Pax 2, the successor the Pax by Ploom, is everything we loved about the original with many improvements. Ploom is once again pushing the limits of the vaporizer industry with a product that has a beautiful, highly portable, sleek design that when paired with its outstanding performance makes for one of the best herb vaporizers on the market. Released almost two years ago, this product is still considered by many to be the king of portable vaporizers, and we can only assume that it will remain so until the release of the Pax 3.
Ploom has again created the new gold standard for vaporizers across the board. With the original Pax they showed the world something it’d never seen: an extremely sleek, portable, durable unit that was capable of long battery life and surprisingly high quality vapor production. The Pax 2 does the same, but with improvements in all areas, putting the Pax name at the top of the charts yet again.
The Pax 2 is smaller, lighter, and features a polished aluminum shell that makes it look even more premium than the original Pax unit. The four LED lights on the front of the unit have made a reappearance, and seem to be the Pax staple at this point, so we don’t expect those to go anywhere any time soon. They actually seem to be even brighter than before, adding the aforementioned premium vibe you get when using this unit.
Pax 2 Vaporizer Performance Improvements
In our review of the Pax by Ploom we said that if Apple made a vaporizer, this is pretty much what it would look like. The Pax 2 takes it to a new level, and we can say with that Apple probably couldn’t surpass a design like this even if they wanted to. It just looks that good, and we can’t see where they’d make improvements.
Besides the differences we’ve mentioned, the design is about the same. Your herbs are loaded at the bottom of the device where it’s heated, you pull from the opposite end which now features a slightly modified mouthpiece.
The original Pax had a mouthpiece that popped out for use, and could then be pushed back into the unit itself. The Pax 2 is a bit simpler, featuring two mouthpieces that you’ll attach and most likely leave there until you need to clean it. These new mouthpieces are smaller than that of the original, and therefore the inability to slide into the unit isn’t a drawback.
The first mouthpiece is flat, and is flush with the top of the unit. There’s a small hole on the front, that allows airflow. The second resembles the mouthpiece of the original Pax, and is shaped for the mouth. This mouthpiece is more likely to appeal to those who like to pull big hits, whereas the first will be favored by people who prefer to sip their vapor.
Pax 2 Vaporizer Improved in Several Ways
In terms of performance, the Pax 2 Vaporizer is an improvement in several ways. There’s far less resistance, which is noticeable as soon as you first use it if you’re coming from the original Pax. This is a very good thing, as the original Pax, as great as it was, did tend to cater more to the users that prefer to sip their vapor. The overall vapor output is also significantly higher, which will be yet another benefit for those who like to rip from their vaporizers. You could definitely get large clouds from it, but doing so is now far easier.
The Pax 2 Vaporizer is a worthy successor to the original unit. At its initial release, it was the king of portables, and still holds that title to this day. Pax has become a name that is synonymous with quality, and we hope to see them continue this stride throughout their future endeavors. Although the Pax 3 is a short time away from release, we can only expect big things from the third unit in a line of great vaporizers.
