PAX 3 VAPORIZER DETAILED REVIEW
Pax 3 Vaporizer, the successor of the Pax 2, is Pax Lab’s most intuitive unit yet. The Pax 2 was an absolute power house of a vaporizer, and when the Pax 3 was announced, many wondered just what the Pax 3 would bring to the table in order to be a viable upgrade to its predecessor. Well, Pax Labs has made it clear that they aren’t making a new unit just for the sake of it. Pax 3, like it’s older brothers, will be the definitive unit over the next several years as the brand yet again pushes the boundaries of vaping.
The design is absolutely beautiful, which is something we’ve come to expect from Pax. This sleek, discrete, and highly portable unit has a mirror-polished, anodized aluminum body and medical grade stainless steel oven, and it sports the same four iconic LED lights we’ve come to know and love.
From the outside, it looks a lot like the Pax 2. I have no complaints; if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it! However, you’ll notice some significant improvements under the hood so to speak. The oven now has three functions.
- The first mode is the same mode featured in the original Pax and Pax 2, which is now being called Full-Oven Mode. Basically, this is the mode that every vaporizer features. You fill the oven to the top, and start vaping.
- The second mode is the Half-Oven Mode. This mode, as the name suggests, allows you to fill only half of the oven. One drawback to Full-Oven Mode is the fact that after some time, your herbs start to lose their taste. Filling it with half the herb at a time will simply make your herbs taste better, although we aren’t sure that many people will sacrifice the convenience of a fully loaded oven for the sake of taste.
- The third and most innovative feature is the Concentrate Mode. Concentrate mode features specific heat settings as well as an oven insert that allows you to vape waxes! Many vaporizers feature oven inserts that allow you to vape concentrates, but this is a first from Pax. The inclusion isn’t a surprise. As we’ve stated before, Pax is pretty much the Apple of vaporizers. If other vaporizers are beginning to do it, Pax will perfect it.
The performance, in all areas, has been boosted significantly. The battery is twice as powerful as that of the Pax 2, and the oven heats up in an impressive 15 seconds as opposed to the 30 second heat up time of the Pax 2. It also features an internal accelerometer that will save on the amount of energy used during the heat up process.
Pax has jumped on the smart phone app trend, which I think is great! It adds to the customizability of your vaping experience, allowing you to set your unit to an exact temperature without compromising the seamless and streamlined qualities of the unit.
Many people seem to think that screens really don’t look good on vaporizers, and considering the size of the Pax 3, a screen isn’t a viable option anyways. Almost everyone has a smart phone, so we hope that this feature is one that other vaporizers begin to incorporate more often. Pax is doing it, so let’s be real, other companies will almost definitely follow suit. After all, everything they do ends up being the gold standard for the vaporizer market.
This unit is more than we could have asked for. Again, we fully expect it to be the definitive unit of 2016, 2017, and every consecutive year until they release their next unit. This is a company that aims to innovate, and they have certainly done as much with the Pax 3.
